I read all the feedback so I knew what to expect. I would highly recommend it for others… from arriving early to find the cooking place (it is slightly difficult to find) and knowing that we were just watching and only making the ganache for the macarons not making the full thing. With all that in mind, I found it a great family cooking course, especially if you have young kids.
The only downside was that the instructor wasn’t overly friendly and wasn’t too welcoming with questions I asked.

Just doing something completely different whilst visiting Paris was a lot of fun and we did learn about cooking macarons. We did feel however that the lady in charge could've been a bit more enthusiastic; it definitely seemed like just a job to her and when she did try to interact with customers she was quite robotic and didn't really seem to care about the answers. It was fun but could've been much more so with a fun person at the helm! Having gone from Paris to Dublin and taken part in a number of activities the difference was quite stark - those people made everything a laugh!

The Chef was so empatic she speaks spanish, english and french.

Our family of four (mom, dad, daughter 13 and son 9) had a delightful time learning to make macarons. The instructor gave helpful tips that we would not have picked up without the class. There were a lot of families with kids with us from around the world. The kitchen where the class was held was really well set up for the class. Our instructor seemed skilled, although her instruction seemed rote and scripted, either she was nervous or she wasn’t having a great day? Overall was a great experience.

We watched someone make Macrons and some kids got to pipe out macrons. we then mixed the fillings.
possibly would have enjoyed the experience a bit more if the Teacher was happier delivering the lesson. She didn't smile once for a family friendly activity.

I SO wish I had read the reviews in detail before booking. This was the biggest disappointment/waste of money - My daughter who LOVES to bake was looking forward to learning to bake french macarons from a parisian chef. The class is NOT a class - It's a demonstration from an instructor that teaches nothing... doesn't tell you what you're looking for with the batter consistency or show proper piping technique. She mixed a singular batch at the front of the room that everyone watched, then made it incorrectly, and had to start over. The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop with no music or chatter... it was AWKWARD. Students then got to mix the ganache/filling at their station with pre-measured ingredients and spread it on PRE-MADE macarons. The instructor was dull, dead panned, and never even cracked a smile for a family friendly course. Not to mention we paid for three entry tickets (2 adults, 1 child) and only got two filling stations. AND the class ended after 1 hour, not an hour and a half as advertised. I have traveled the world and have never been so appalled - it felt like highway robbery to charge us 180 Euro for a poor demonstration masquerading as a baking class. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!!

We had a lovely French instructor who was wonderful with the kids. However, the Galeries Lafayette have multiple buildings, and staff members did not know how to direct us. As a result, we were late. Another family missed nearly half. Specific directions need to be included with the tickets. Staff at the Galeries also should be informed so they are able to help.

My 5 year old loves macarons, so we scheduled a macaron class that would be appropriate for her in Paris. Many other classes have a hefty price tag, but probably take you from start to finish on your own. This was more of an engaged group lesson where the instructor made a batch of batter for the shells--though participants helped dump in ingredients and were able to try piping the shells as well. We did make 2 of our own fillings and assembled the macarons (using already prepared shells) that we could take home--but only 6 between the 2 of us. The classroom was great and it was possible to see each step and the instructor engaged with each participant.

The format of the class worked out for us, given that the entire process would take much longer and I'm not sure my child would have the patience for piping an entire batch. It would've been nicer to take more than 3 of each flavor--or even an option to add on more to take home. I am excited to have the recipes and have learned some tips from the instructor that I'm sure will help make our home-attempts more successful.

All-in-all I would recommend as a quicker introduction to macaron making and a good family experience.

The event It was just ok, not great.
Although the instructor did speak in English, she spoke very fast and her strong French accent made it difficult to understand what she said. (Je parle un peu de français.)
Perhaps if she would speak slower or with a microphone, it would have been better. Otherwise, she was a lovely person and the children had a good time. Thank you.

Anche perché iniziano in ritardo ma finiscono anche qualche minuto prima. Ripeto per il prezzo pagato bambino e adulto che sta lì solo a guardare … imbarazzante .. escono che non sanno far nulla …! We didn't get to cook the macarons, which is the hardest part. The teacher was almost silent - very poor instructor. Essentially we mixed the pre-measured ganache.
Added to the poor quality class, the space it was in was very hard to find. None of the reminders or registration made clear where the class was, and although we asked many Galleries Lafayette staff where to go, no one seemed to know and we went round in circles in 3 different buildings.

The venue was somewhat nice, how ever we were expecting more hands on experience.

The family experience was very misleading. It is the only activity available on certain days, and although we purchased two separate adult tickets for two hands-on experiences, we were forced to share a single set of ingredients and tools. I did not have a child under the age of 12 with me, so I would not have assumed that two people with adult tickets would need to share anything. We paid for two, yet neither of us had the full experience, and we each had to settle for 3 macarons. We were so looking forward to this, and it was heartbreaking for both of us.

My daughter and I went and the chef was lovely and knowledgable but we only really watched her cook the macarons and then made some filling for them. This was a bit disappointing since we thought we’d actually make them! Would have been nice to have had some choice over things like flavour too. I understand there was lily tied time but maybe a different product may have been better of time was a factor? Still really enjoyed though.

Unfortunately, it was not what we expected for a children's baking class. The instructor was not engaging, rude, and didn't offer a smile the entire time. She seems annoyed that we were there. The class was boring for the children and all 4 kids expressed they did not have fun. I would not recommend this course.

This was enjoyable but somewhat slow moving. They really should play music as it felt awkward speaking amidst the silence.

Overall very good and really enjoyed it. 2 things I’d recommend. First, some music would be good during the class. Something like the Amelie movie soundtrack. And second, French pastry chef hats for the kids would be a great touch.

I took this class with my two daughters, 6 and 8, and we loved it. Hands on, easy to follow and I definitely walked away with a better understanding on how to make this magically delicious cookies. Instructor was fantastic. I would recommend and probably do again!

This was the only class available to do when I searched online for our dates so I booked it. I didn’t have any problems finding the location because I read previous reviews and knew it would be inside the shopping building but also directions did say where to go.

I didn’t remember that it was a family class and there were 2 small children who rushed to the table and blocked the view of the demonstration but that wasn’t the worst part of it. One child kept touching the utensils that were being used and started to reach to touch the ingredients and I spoke up to ask if we should wash our hands first. Afterwards the instructor didn’t say a word to the mom or little girl when she manhandled the frosting tip, spatulas and everything else that was then used and then she coughed over the mixture!

We did get to do two dots each of making the cookie and then we went to our respective places and mixed a small amount of pistachio cream and chocolate cream to make 2 of each macaron. I was curious why each child got 3 of each but the paying adults and older kids only got 2 of each.

Class lasted just over an hour.

Overall based on lack of hygiene and instructor not caring that someone was touching everything and coughing over the mixture I would not recommend or do this class ever again.

My daughter (12) and I absolutely loved this class. A real highlight of our trip to Paris. The teacher, Marie, was amazing and we were given some great tips to make delicious macarons.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. Our instructor was lovely, informative, organized and fun. It will be something we'll always remember about our time in Paris. My son have always loved macarons so was very excited to make them himself. Thank you!

PS. People who are unreasonably late should not be allowed to enter the class. It was very disruptive to our instruction and overall class energy.

We watched the instructor make the batter. Got to pipe two cookies. Made enough filling to take home 4 cookies in a container made for 6 and she had enough extras to allow everyone to take a full container. More like participating in the cooking segment of a morning talk show.

We asked for directions upon arriving to the correct building and were told to go to the fourth floor. Someone on the fourth floor told us to go to a different building….this all carried on until we arrived at the class over 20 minutes late. The instructor did not welcome us in. My 7 year old was meanwhile crying because she was so sad about missing the class. The instructor shrugged and said we were too late. She reluctantly let the children join the group because after paying I felt we were entitled to stay but I felt so uncomfortable that I hung back and didn’t participate. Which is ridiculous. There should be clearer instructions about how to find the class.
The class itself was fun and the macarons were delicious.

This was a very well planned and delivered cooking class. Our host was excellent- very organized and patient. The activity was easy to follow and it was great to actually participate.

Our family of 5 very much enjoyed the French Macaron Bakery class. We felt the chef clearly explained how to make the macarons, so that adults and children alike could easily understand. The class also allowed for an appropriate amount of participation, so that we felt like we could make macarons upon our return home. The number of families enrolled in the class was exactly the right amount - any more people and it would have been too many. We booked the class easily online. I will certainly recommend this to friends as an introductory course in the art of macaron making. Thank you for a great experience!

My daughter loves macarons! It was a great experience for her and her mother to do together. From the start of the demonstration the chef did an excellent job working with the group and making sure everyone knew what they were doing. The end results were delicious!!!

My kids enjoyed this class but I’m confused why it cost more for the parent ticket when parental involvement was minimal and parents did not get to take home any macarons. I was there as a child supervisor only, which was fine, but confused why my ticket cost more than the kids when I really only got to observe. We’re excited to try to make these at home together now

This was the perfect way to spend an afternoon in Paris, experiencing the fine art of French cuisine from a charming, smiling, welcoming expert, and getting to do the steps yourself!

Déjà nous remercions Marie (j'espère ne pas me tromper) pour son accueil et sa gentillesse. Elle a dispensé le cours en anglais et en français car contrairement à ce qui est indiqué lors de la réservation, cet atelier est réservé aux personnes anglophones.
Cependant nous avons été déçus par le concept car tout est déjà prêt en avance (ingrédients et coques des macarons). La professeure a fait la démonstration de la recette, nous nous sommes contentés de mélanger les ingrédients (déjà prêts) des 2 ganaches et de les mettre dans les coques. Nous aurions aimé réaliser nous même les coques car c'est la partie technique de la recette. Nous ne savions pas à l'avance combien de temps durait l'atelier, effectivement en 1h30 il n'est pas possible de tout faire, un descriptif plus détaillé de l'atelier nous aurait évité cette déception.
Nous avons néanmoins passé un agréable moment mère-fils dans un très joli cadre. Sommes repartis avec la recette, 3 macarons chacun et les astuces pour reproduire la recette à la maison.

Très agréable avec une animatrice pleine de gentillesse. A faire si vous êtes gourmand et que vous aimez les macarons!

Je regrette de na pas avoir été prévenue que le cours était en anglais. De plus, les consignes pour se rendre sur place sont un mélange de français, anglais et espagnol mais impossible d'accéder aux consignes complètes dans une seule langue. Heureusement, nous n'étions pas trop nombreux et Marie a pris la peine de nous traduire les explications en français et je l'en remercie !
Elle a été très attentionnée et nous avons passé un moment agréable.
Très déçue par l'organisation et la communication de la part des Galeries Lafayette mais contente de l'atelier. Et mon fils a également apprécié.

All four of us loved this class! Marie was very informative and great with my daughters. She gave great tips and I really think we will be able to recreate the recipe at home! I would recommend to anyone. The only difficulty was in finding the room-store employees did not seem to know what it was, even when shown our email confirmation in French and English.

Cute class and the pastry chef was very nice. Spoke great English. However in this class you do not bake any cookies. You watch the instructor whip some up and you get to make simple fillings. Little disappointing if you go in think you are making Macarons.if I would have known we would have taken a different class since that’s what we were there to do. We also received 1 recipe (one side English; other French). Wished we got to keep our aprons but we had to return them as well. No mentos to keep. We weren’t allowed to video (which I understand) but would have been helpful since we didn’t actually get to do a hands on with the cookies.

Class where you learn the secrets of making a good macaron. We expected more of a workshop where we could make them ourselves. In an hour and a half they demonstrate how the shells are made, then you can mix the ingredients for two kinds of filling and pipe them in pre-made shells. Fun, but not a much fun as expected.

The class was great for kids and the instructor made sure they had fun. Although it was great for kids, the tips were very helpful for those who were interested in learning to bake these items. The only issue I had was that you don’t actually bake the shells due to time constraints. This should have been noted in the advertisement. Nevertheless, it was still a good class and was fun

Marie was a wonderful teacher. We all had great fun piping the shells, making the fillings and constructing the final macarons and picked up plenty of tips to make more macarons at home. I would definitely recommend this to friends as a lovely way to pass a morning in Paris and pick up new culinary skills!!

A great experience. My daughters (5 and 11 y o) and I enjoyed the bakery class very much.

I booked online and paid in full. When we arrived, there was no class on. I spent one hour being directed from building to building with my three tired children in tow, but failed to find anyone who had any information about the class detailed on our tickets. Eventually we were asked to complete paperwork and told we should receive a phone call in approx 4 days to discuss being given a refund. I am still waiting and have heard nothing… except this email asking for a review!

it would be nicer if we got to do the dough ourselves and have a bit more variety on flavours. Also I paid for 5 and only got material/equipment for 3. It was an overall good experience but most definitely these aspects could be improved.

The class was fun and helpful, cute teacher but everyting that happend before was a disaster.
The instructions on my ticket were in another languageof where the meetingpoint was .. I think it was in spanish.
The people who I asked in the departmentstore had no clue that there even were cooking classes somewhere. One even said we were in the wrong building (nr 39 but had to go to number 42) and we went outside to look. Eventually a guard knew where we had to go, but arriving at the congierge desk it had a big sign that it was closed and that visitors had to go to another floor and there we got send around 3 times more. We were at the store 45 minutes early and ended up beeing 5 minutes late at class from running around like idiots. It totally ruined the experience as we were so stressed. Also no bathroom in place but we needed to go to the 6th floor again.

I loved this class so much! The teacher was so skilled, sweet, and very encouraging. She made the whole experience wonderful. Everything was clean, organized, and well run. The only thing I would recommend is being more detailed about the location. It was slightly confusing to get there.

Was so great to have a lesson on how to bake Macrons. We will certainly give a try at home. It is QUITE difficult to find the location of the class and very few people at the store know. It’s on the 3rd floor in a corner.

Other than that, was fantastic and we all enjoyed.

We made two flavors of macarons and tastings as we made the layers.

Our daughter loves macaroons and we were lucky to find this amazing class. The ladies are very nice and the whole experience is very immersive. Our daughter was inspired, and she plans to make macarons for her grandma when we come back home. We waited inside and we highly recommend for parents to join the class or wait inside and relax. The baking room is very well appointed and it is a peaceful oasis in a very busy department store. After the class Do not miss the central stained glass windows and the terrace on top from which you can see the entire Paris. Thank you Macaron class organizers- we will be back.

The class was a lot of fun- you get to watch making the shells (which take a lot longer than the class), and make the filling and frost them. Good for kids or adults.

It was so nice to take a break from the whirlwind of activities in Paris. My daughters and I truly enjoyed learning about macaron making. The instructor was wonderful and warm. We had a lot of fun.

We had a great time learning how to make macarons. The instructor was very kind, patient, and friendly. The only thing I would recommend, is to make sure to leave ample time to find the location if you are not from Paris. It is located in the city center and there are several buildings. We managed to find the place in time but it was a bit stressful.

the macaron course was good. Our guide, Marie, held it in French and English, so that we were able to follow. She did an excellent job!

However, I found it more than strange that, according to your conditions, I am obliged to accompany my child and pay 49 euros for it, but that I was not a full participant in the course. After the announcements on the Internet ("family expeirence"), I assumed that I would attend the course myself, but this was not the case. Ingredients and utensils were only prepared for my daughter and when asked I was told that this was not intended for parents.

For me, it turns out that you charge the parents 49 euros for supervising their own children and then not allowing them to participate in the actual macaron course.

I ask you to reimburse the 49 euros, since under normal circumstances I would only have booked the course for my daughter and would have stayed in the waiting area.

It was advertised as a class where participants would make their own macarons and that was not the case. All we did was watch the baker make macarons and then make a ganache for 4. Disappointing.

My wife and daughter did that class and had a great time. They left with the recipe and my daughter couldnt wait to be able to try it at home

As my daughter loves macarons, I booked this class during our trip to Paris. It was fantastic. We got a lot of useful information and also gained some practical experience. I would definitely recommemd this class.

The booking process was really smooth and the apartment where the class takes olace is beautiful airy and spacious.
I brought this for my daughters 8 birthday gift and it was truly a wonderful experience.
The lasy taking the class(think her name is Caroline) is warm welcoming and informative.

We really enjoyed the French Macaron Bakery Class - Family Experience! It was one of the highlights of our trip. The chef was extraordinarily knowledgeable giving us great tips beyond a standard recipe. She also got all of us involved from our 7 year old, teenagers and us. And the Macarons were so delicious! Can't wait to make some now that we are back home!

Myself and daughters aged 12 and 11 thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We learnt how to make a perfect Macaron and came back home to make them at the weekend. The lady who took the class was lovely and was very patient. Her English was excellent.

My 6 year old daughter really enjoyed this activity with her grandma. However, she did wish that she had been able to choose another flavour, and that she had been able to taste some macarons as part of the activity! She was delighted with the macarons she made and they were delicious.

It was a lot of fun. Both myself (a pretty experienced baker) my son and his 8 year old daughter all learned a lot and had fun. Clear instructions, just enough hands on.

My whole family enjoyed this activity on our last day in Paris! Our instructor was kind, patient and skilled.

The chef is wonderful with the kids (and adults) and provided great tips and tricks for making these treats ourselves. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get off the beaten path...and to give the kids a break from museums and monuments. The best part is that we learned how to bring home a bit of Paris. I would also add that we tried several macarons At other places and none were as good as those we made with are teacher/chef.

What a great experience. First time in Paris for my daughter (13) and she loves to bake. So I thought, great, a cooking class and a visit to Paris without a stop at the Galeries Lafayette is unthinkable... I was so impressed by the quality and professionalism of the instructor/chef and the class. It felt intimate, we were offered amazing tips and secrets on how to achieve the perfect macaroon.... Thank you! I highly recommend, definitely a highlight of our trip (along with shopping at GL and an amazing lunch on the roof @Creatures

this was a completely unforgettable experience for my sons and I. everything from check-in went seamlessly, and my three boys thoroughly enjoyed learning all the facts and tricks of making authentic French macarons. the teacher was incredibly informative and truly truly great with children. the class was small enough that each child had enough individual attention to help them along the process. and the macarons we made were absolutely delicious!

Jeanne did an excellent job explaining all the secrets about the macaron baking process. We enjoyed the course very much and will try the recipe at home. The location at Galeries Lafayette was also great. I can highly recommend this activity. At the end we each could take four macarons with us. They tasted delicious.

My daughter and I had a lovely time at the macarons baking class at Galeries Lafayette. The instructor Jeanne was a complete professional and was very helpful and encouraging of all the kids. The environment was excellent and the instructions were clear and unambiguous. We had to cancel our original class as my daughter fell sick and the store was gracious and helpful in having us rebook for a later date. Five stars all around!! Wish i’d Taken my son too!

My girl enjoyed it which was my goal, the lady was really charming. But i think they could give some souvenir for the high price you pay, some apron or tool would do it much more unforgettable

The macaron baking class was a fun hands on experience for the whole family. The kids really loved learning how to make this French specialty. It was easy to book and easy to find inside the spectacular Lafayette Galleries. I would recommend it to families with kids!!

This class was great fun, and beautifully taught! We really enjoyed it. The kids in attendance were really fascinated by what we were doing and as grownups we really enjoyed witnessing their fascination, in addition to Enjoying the process for ourselves.

The pastry chef who taught the class was talented, friendly and spoke perfect English. The macarons were amazing!

I attended the class with my husband and 3 children (aged 8-10). Aa great class and I know feel confident to try making macaroons at home. Loved that we got to take ours away. Would have been good to have been provided with recipe at the course (instead of waiting for an email).

This is a great experience and fun for a family to do . Even though I was just in my own at the time , our chef Fiona made it fun and interesting for all ages to appreciate . We learnt to something really French , in a beautiful building and got to take home our “ product “ for others to sample !

This is a great little class and it is just the right amount of time. We researched many other options before selecting this class. Most of the others were 3 hours and 3 times (or more) the price. We were a bit skeptical because the cost was so much less, and it is located in a department store (Galleries Lafayette), but I relied on the reviews. I am SO GLAD we selected this class. It takes place in a quiet room on the third floor of the store. It is a nicely appointed, modern event space with a kitchen (clean, light, airy and updated with a lounge area as well) and the pastry chef was lovely (and speaks fluent English). The class is 1.5 hours long and you learn to make the cookies and fillings with instruction up front and hands on practice making your own as well. They have pre-baked macaroons available so that you don't need to wait for your batch to bake and cool before filling and tasting! You do see your batch come out of the oven, and you get to taste them, but you don't use those for the actual macaroons that you fill and take home.
The fact that it is in the Galleries Lafayette worked out great for us as well. Not only is it an easy ride on the Metro (stop is right in front), but we got a chance to browse around the store after the class and do a bit of shopping before heading out to see the Opera building (across the street) and grab lunch in the area. It made for a great 1/2 day.

Side note: It takes a bit of time to find the actual location, so just plan to arrive 15 minutes before class. The store opens at 9:30 am most days, but when we arrived for our 10:00 am class, the Galleries Lafayette doors were still closed -- turns out that there was an unusual delayed opening that day (our luck). So our class started 30 minutes late at 10:30 instead of the planned 10:00am. Despite the confusion upfront and slightly shorter class, we still really enjoyed it. And, we realized that a 3 hour class would have been much too long for us to sit through for macaroon making.

Update: Due to the delayed start, the Galleries Lafayette actually refunded our class fees. Wow. That was not expected! Just goes to show you what great customer service they have as well.

The setting was beautiful. The instructor was great. The other participants were a perfect match. The outcome was delicious

Things that could be improved:
* measurements were in grams----need to also convert to ounces, etc., for American participants
* due to time limitations, all ingredients were pre-measured, but that limited the insights gained by children participants

No problems booking, but worried about what to do if we didn't have a printer. Expected email confirmation would suffice. As it happened, we found a printer. An option for an ecopy on a smartphone, rather than hard copy printing, would be reassuring.

We had always wondered why macarons were so expensive, but now we know the time and ingredients involved.

This was a unique experience during our trip, and we would happily recommend it to others. We hope to have a macaron party with friends in our kitchen at home.

I have difficulty to find the place, the instructions are not clear to me to get there. We like to see how to make a good macaroons but no luck as there were no detail for beginner.
I would never recommend this class to my friend as I ddid not get any good things out of it. I could find a receipt online. Not worthy to pay for almost 100 euros for this class. Extremely disappointed.
